The most famous park in Finland.
Kaivopuisto, Kaivari for short, is the best known park and meeting place in Helsinki, perhaps in all of Finland. May Day picnics and summer concerts in Kaivopuisto have brought together people decade after decade.
It’s undoubted that over the years more sparkling wine has flowed in Kaivari than in all of the Presidential Independence Day receptions combined. Never underestimate the power of lukewarm bubbly in chilly spring weather, especially when it’s a tradition that the first of May picnic is paired with sleet – and that’s a fact.
And the park wouldn’t be a park without the trees. The Kaivari trees have had a courtside seat to the hustle and bustle of the city from the 19th century onwards. They have witnessed the peak years of Kaivopuisto Spa (now long gone), the wild May Day celebrations, and of course the gravity-defying hair of the Finnish pop icon Neumann in the golden 1980s.
Limited Edition of 1000 watches from the one-of-a-kind tree.
The historical trees of Kaivopuisto have always been cherished. But when natural forces intervened and the Aila storm felled an almost 150-year-old linden tree, a unique opportunity presented itself. We were there in a flash to rescue the best pieces of this grand old tree.
The golden structure of the watch’s case and the wavy design are a definite eye-catcher. The light linden paired with a finely nuanced brown dial make for a stunning pair.
Every tree has a history and stories that we should listen and remember. When a significant tree needs to be removed, its story doesn't necessary end there. The last chapter begins - as Aarni Watch.
